A gruesome thing, I have a tandem and love them to bits, fantastic way of getting around, this sort of design would flex like hell in the middle.Ideas?
Let me think about it, junior has just cooked lunch, cremated bacon, yummy.
On a tandem , some thought would have to go into the bracing as chunky says. The black one i built in the pic is not too bad , as there is a big gusset welded into the frame inside the fake fuel tank , that comes nearly all the way down as far as the tank is. Also the triangulation at the bottom of the frame helps a lot , although the chain does go slack a little , thats what the tensioner is for , you can just see it in the centre of the frame

What to do with it?
I can see a lowrider recumbent in it, lop the top tubes off about 18" above the ground, run one chain set at the front, a seat just in front of the rear wheel, a lower steerer tube? naaah to much work.
Tall bike project? it would give a nice long wheel base to avoid wheelies., bottom bracket and seat tube off another bike on top of the front seat tube, rear stays off that welded to the top of the rear seat tube. That triangulates everything, then some apehangers or similar from the front stem, brace these badly down to the fork and everything is triangulated. Hideous, stupid, dangerous, brutal a true Freak Bike.
You could fit an extra top tube at the back, some decent brakes and use it as a tandem, with the original brakes it would be a killer. These things two up weigh a ton, and accelerate like hell on the downhillls. It can be terrifying, scaredest moment of my life, Me, Mrs C, Junior C and a trailer of luggage on Countisbourne Hill in Devon. Sign says cyclists dismount, Why? methinks. Brakes smoking, me convinced we were going to die. Spent a fortune fitting Vee brakes and drum rear brake after that, and it still scary on long downhills.
I was thinking you could donate it to a special school or similar, but having done that stuff for 20+ years they would say 'yes please' and never use it. Do you know anybody with a learning disability or partially relative who would like a run out on it? A good option if you can find anybody.
Fit a steering linkage so you can drive it from the rear seat, that would confuse people.
