Uncle of mine was a merch engineer on liners, strange really as he couldn’t fit his backside to a bog seat, would explain terrible piping on the ones he was on at leastHave to agree, I can highly recomend cruising the fjords, but not on a cruise ship with hundreds of others. A cruise is my idea of hell, but as a Marine Engineer (who had gold braid in a past life) with many years floating boaty experience I can fully understand why the cruise liners have some many issues with plumbing.
Over complicated, contorted pipe runs, passing valves everywhere, so difficult to fix anything. Nit enough time in dry dock to actually fix anything properly.
As for eating at the captains table, its his job as manager of your floating holiday hotel to entertain you! On the big ones there will also be another who does the seamnship stuff. They are actually Master Mariners, not Captains.
