they will sell you a set for 40 quid but they WILL not sell you them individualy if u want a multidrill just use the bosch ones from screwfix when they get a bit blunt just sharpen them on a green wheel on grinder

Yes but you wont get a set for 40 quid. Normally used by cnc'ists as they are too veasy to chip or snap with manual drilling.

I use the small size stub drills for pilot drilling. They dont bend or go off sideways like a normal hss can.
3.1mm were on clearance for a pound so I got a few.

The ones on telly would have been cheap tipped drills, masonary bits reground. Proper carbide for the demo?

A decent hss cobalt set would be better choice for most on stainless, and plain hss for everything else.

I have seen the same guy's at car shows....
I said I'll give him the money but I want the set he's already used.....
OH u cant have them because they have been used.....hahaha...
said I dont care, picked up his box and offered the money.....he snatched the drills outta my hand and said keep ur money....
so I emptied his little stall.....
obv not the same qual of drill sold as the ones he uses.....

I have seen them at the shows but they dont look quality, I suspect the drill softened stuff?
I did see one bloke swap a broken drill for a customer.

saw someone selling these at a car show, they were amazing, bought one, took it home, it was carp , i imagine the discs have been heat treated or similar to make them soft

Brake discs are soft. The braking surface may get a little bit of case hardening going on, but nothing a semi-sharp HSS drill won't get through without a little bit effort.
Using brake discs to demonstrate a drill bits ability must be one of the longest running sales cons.

The one company that sells stuff that's too good to be true, is HMT. Their impactadrills and taps and reamers etc are very, very impressive. Have you ever seen a 14mm drill bit in an impact gun chew through 8mm of steel in around 10 seconds? And then do it again, and again?!

Unfortunately they come with impressive price tags, too...

Maybe the man on the telly buys all the Aldi and Lidl ones and stick posh labels on the tin
