A good touring bike

TDM...great choice for toes back in the water, even the earlier 850,s are great bikes.

850 I preferred the looks of tbh... but I rode one once & found it rather ....
Insipid. Flat, uninteresting power delivery & a bit.... sewing machine.

The 270-degree TRX though -I always fancied a go on one of those. It looked like it might be fun to chuck about - like a reliable 900ss

They always looked far too big for me. I find a lot of bikes that I like are built for people who are built like barn doors and I'm not comfortable with anything big and heavy unless I can comfortably get a foot to the floor!

Pan European is worth a look ,,, if you prefer something slimmer , maybe a vfr . or as an outsider tigers can be bought worth the money as can super blackbirds , depends just how tourer or how sports tourer you want to go. my fave , an old r1100s , the best bike bmw ever made

Hear hear... next year I'll have been riding 'Pans' for 19 years, one 1100 and now on my 3rd 1300.
They are weighty beasts but you don't notice it so much once the wheels are turning... easy servicing, adjustable rider's seat and you can pick them up with stupidly low mileage for sensible money. That said, the last one I sold went for £2250 and had just shy of 80,000 miles on, of which I'd done 59,000. It's still out there and almost certainly still running like a Swiss watch.

had a few 900ss and they were far from chuckable ,,, slow and heavy steering but very easy to live with , enter a couple of 916 es and an 853 [ bored and stroked 748] and that speeded up the steering , but not as easy to commute on ,,, add a helibar bar riser clip on set and a double bubble screen and I was happy to do all day trips on a Ducati ,,,, but I have long arms , and that changes things

Just to confirm, the bike is nothing to do with me, I just like Hondas and V-Twins generally - and this one is selling very near me so would be good if someone else bought it, quick...

My two favourites - Honda VFR750, or slightly newer (At only 20-25 years old) BMW R1150GS.
BMW is capable of huge miles, and whilst it isn't quick, it's supremely comfortable for all day riding.
At that age, there aren't too many electronics to go wrong either.

I almost bought a R1100GS and wish I had. Not too tall, less than stellar performance but looked like you could just throw a couple of bags on and ride it to timbuktu if you felt like it.
