A very good friend of mine has just split with his wife. I’ve been keeping tabs on him without getting in his way. Anyway Friday night he asked if he could come to mine on Saturday and spend the day with me. He knows I tinker around on Saturday so was expecting to play with the toys. I wasn’t in the mood.

Long storey short, we were going to cook in the evening and cook in the garden. So very quickly a plan was hatched by me to make a little table for a gas burner that I made a while back. Quick rummage around the shed I came out with some 3x2 timber, a length of old floor board and Ikea wooden slats from a single bed.

Quick headscratch and a plan was made and about 90 mins latter this chap was made. All hand cut, including the coupound mitres on the legs

Came out better than expected and friend was occupied all day. We used it to cook dinner last night. I made mutton chop curry

That’s just two big bits of wood. Gravity keeps it all in place

I use it to chop fire wood for the BBQ, it’s well used
