that ship has sailed as i have already ordered the plate, but it seems shipping is free over 150, so at some point ill put in an order with some box, angle and sheet. might learn to weld first though I also dont want to take over the toys from my daughter who this is actually all for as she is studying engineering and has been told it would give her an advantage if she knew tig

Learning to weld is over rated just buy the steel and the rest will sort itself out

To be fair though, whenever I order with a project in mind I always order a few extra lengths of something, or an extra sheet of 2mm as it always comes in handy. The amount of things I've been able to make on a whim is beyond counting now...but had only ordered enough for the jobs I was planning I wouldn't have had the material. I do the same with lathe stock as well
