A cabling stripping hand tool for white domestic cable?

Not the thin wires, the white plastic is what I need to strip, thanks.

A Stanley knife is all it takes. Quick twirl against the blade and pull it off.

How much have you got to do?
If just a couple, usually just a Stanley knife, but it takes a certain amount of practice not to cut the inner cores.

If you have a lot to do, knipex ergostrip is designed for the task.

You can also use a Cyclops data stripper in a pinch, but it's not really designed for it

The key words in the Knipex one are 'longitudinal cut'.

I've seen those around....always wondered what they were for.....

Always just walked the diagonals up the length.

If the wire is going to be held in a clamp (entering a box), I carefully stop the cutting short,
and roll the remaining up and back like a turtleneck sweater, to provide
more protection.

I've never used one of the strippers, I always use a very sharp Stanley knife, but I've had 50 years practice and have the "feel"

I'm always worried when i try to go in radially with a knife, that I'm cutting the inner insulation.
When I walk the diagonals up the length, they don't nick the inner insulation,
and then I peel the outer off to one side, walk the diagonals around the cable trimming
off the outer remnant.

knipex ergostrip.... they bought us these at work, when they said we couldnt use stanleys anymore. these do the job intended but are more dangerous than a stanley... they open up on there own in a toolbox, i have had to tie mine shut.

If it's just a few cables that need doing, simply use a Stanley knife to make a light cut around the sheath, then bend the end of the cable over a bit, to open up the cut and see where further nicks need to be made to finish the job. Bending the wire alone is often enough for the remaining sheath to "tear off".

My Stanley Fatmax ones strip the outer on most 3 core flex, if that struggles (Or it's not to hand) then it's a Stanley knife.

Work really well and are cheap enough to buy for a one off job
