Making good use of the manipulator there have you managed to get training for the programming yet Sparkey?

Thanks Stu well i did get some training and learned a lot myself about the robots this year, i can operate our robots quite well by now...but i'm having a career change soon.....i'm going back to school to take over the farm with mister Sparkey...
Ofcourse this is what we always wanted but i'm sure i'll miss the robots.... (i still will be welding on the farm so that's a good thing)
Awemason: it's welding a part for a pedalbox for Peugeot...i'm not sure if i am allowed to explain more about it....
And yes it looks very AWESOME, it excites me every time i see it! but that must be personal haha!!

Interesting article in the July issue of Land Rover International magazine. 2 guys in a shed in Yorkshire using a second hand six axis Fanuc M-6i robot with a Kemppi Pro Mig 120R welding attachment and linked back to their CAD/CAM system to weld up Roof Racks for Discovery 3 & 4. They claim the Rack is dimensionally accurate to 0.5mm.

Haven't read an LR mag for a while. Dimensional accuracy is down to fixturing and piece parts.

Yes, I don't actually see that having a robot do the welding would really alter the accuracy. That part (which is the hardest) is done by making pieces the right length and positioning them correctly, and welding them in the right order. Who holds the welding torch won't alter that.

The robot will just do the welding more consistantly.
