You could fit an inline softener containing sodium polyphosphate crystals on the feed to the shower.
Recharge it once a year or so for a tenner.
I wince a little at the use of the term 'softener'. This is more of a crystal growth modification. Promotes the growth of small crystals which can stay in suspension in the water stream. No great value for boilers and hot water pipes. But should help with limescale deposits on the shower head if located very close to it though.
Edit: But from previous comments , probably still outside @ukracer budget!
