90 degree vice

i have one of these

but didnt pay anywhere near that much for it. i used to use it for wood so i could hold things square to get screws in etc but just wondering how useful it might be if i mounted it to my planned portable bench?

i havent actually checked to see how square it holds things but cant see it being too far out.

the problem i can see is attaching it in a good place as the handle sticks out and i would ideally want the vice part on a corner of a table, but if the vice part is pointing out the handle is sticking over the table, and if its the other way around the handle is sticking out from a corner at 45*

any ideas on how best to mount it?

If it's going on your 'drop-down' bench, wouldn't having it fitted temporarily to the corner do the business?

Not usually mounted on benches, Far more useful as a portable clamping jig for as mentioned wood or metal when welding, I just happen to have six of them. Last year Halfrauds were selling them of for £15-00 each. Hence the bulk buying.

i paid about 8 quid for mine on offer in screwfix.

my original plan was to drill holes in the relevant places then bolt down with a bolt from underneath and a wing nut on top but clamps will achieve the same result and probably be easier

i have just bought a 4 pack of mole grip type c clamps, 3off 1" c clamps, 3off 3" c clamps, 2off 6" c clamps and have dug out my 2 f clamps and this vice. the f clamps are plastic mostly so may just use them for the vice
