hi, i have recently purchased a Milwaukee 9" heavy duty grinder. its 110v and rated at 20 amps. it has come with a 32 amp plug (large yellow socket) so I'm using it on site through the 32 amp outlet. the other day somebody put a 16 amp plug on it and used it i think. today i put a 32 amp plug back on it as this is the way it came in the box and 32 amp doesn't trip. but as i mentioned machine is rated 20 amps so which socket should i really be using. cheers

put whichever suits your 110 transformer as fits in

my bosch came with 32A plug but has been on 16A for 4 years.

none really unless you intent to run the grinder for more that 6 hours at a time

the suppliers would have to supply it with a 32 amp plug to stay within the law as technically according to the specs used you would be overloading the 16a plug by 4 amps

Our 9 inch Makita grinder came with a 16a plug on it. If its used for any decent period it will trip the transformer. Put a 32a plug on and it will run all day without tripping. So guess what plug it has on it!

so i take it u have a 30 amp suply and a 16 amp fed of a transformer and fused down to suit both?? as the plug size is imaterial for knocking the trip off. its just a means of conection ?

if you have a dedicated 32 amp supply for it and have no problems i would leave it with the 32 amp on it especially if its used in business, health & safety exec and insurance people would take a dimm view.
