Actually it has been for some of the stuff we've bought. I think it was a load of 3-4" rounds and similar diameter tube but that was only a few times, think they've been bettered now or stopped doing them.

Cant believe the price of Ali,a few years ago I bought 150 sheets of used 3mm ali checkerplate, it was glued down onto a showroom floor using evostick which is a sod to remove, may take another look at them and see if its worth the ag cleaning them up.

Dunno if it would work with glue, but for some aluminium sheet I had that was siliconed onto a wall, a good seeing to with a propane torch and then a wire brush did the trick.

It has shot up in price for me, don't buy 3mm very often, probably 10 years ago since I did.
5mm is common for me and it is always 5083 so probably one of the more costly alloys.
Anyway I was paying about £140 plus VAT back in April, last week I was £211.

What is 5083 like for bending/folding?
Need to make some mudguards for my trailer.

The top two are 20mm thick Ecocast tooling plate and the bottom bit is 60mm 6082T6.

I don't know 5083 but I suspect not great. All the bending I have done is in, I think, one of the 1000 series.

But then you would, ideally, get that lasered, as, as mentioned above, it will gum up physical cutters.

Any I have had done has been fine but don't get it done too often.
Got some done earlier this year for capping a gunwale which was ok although it was not my preferred method as it ended up being more work fitting it and it didn't look as it would have been if cut to shape and welded but that was what was asked for so...
Anyway as said anything I have had done is no problem but as I don't do it myself I can't say how easy it is, it will certainly be a lot harder to fold than 1050 etc.

I like using them because they let me raid their scrap bins for nothing or next to nothing

It is steep. Had a cheaper quote off Alcoa.

Is 5083 much harder than 1050?
1050 scratches so easily.
If so I have a cunning plan!
Means a lot more work for me though.
The trailer sides are a single 8x4 sheet each side. They are 1050. I have already pre drilled them with a few hundred holes for rivets. I need 2x more sheets for the mudguards - running boards and rear door skins.
I could buy 2 sheets of 5083. Drill loads more holes and use them for the sides. Then use the 1050 for the rest. The holes won't matter and in fact some would then line up anyway.
Or not worth the effort?
This trailer must be perfect
