Way too much info.

Nothing at all until lunch? Not even tea or coffee with milk...?I don't eat breakfast anyway so if I've had tea at 8pm that's 15 hours till lunch, definitely not game on for me as I manage to hit 93kg at one point 5'10".
I'd say 1500 calories is a sustainable goal per day, 800 is daft really if you are doing any work.
I got down to 76kg with calories in vs calories out, was aiming for 1500 a day which was a deficit if 1000 for me iirc.
I don't do any physical work, I sit down mostly. Moving around is difficult for me. If I can lose weight I am sure it will help with that tooI don't eat breakfast anyway so if I've had tea at 8pm that's 15 hours till lunch, definitely not game on for me as I manage to hit 93kg at one point 5'10".

Quire, since I stated 1951Looks like a wartime/ post war weekly ration or something similar
So much for the post war dream. You'd hardly think we had actually 'won' the war. Also why I said war / post war
quote from the link in post #65.
The Ministry of Food was a government department set up from the start of the war to the end of all rationing in 1958.
We also only paid of our war debt/ loan to USA in 2006So much for the post war dream. You'd hardly think we had actually 'won' the war.
But compared to the vast majority of europe 'we' had it fairly easy, despite the rationing. German guy I used to work with told me stories of how he and his dad used to go hunting for cats, dogs, rats, anything, to feed the family after it all ended. We may have had rationing, an awful lot of people had nothing.
Looking around at the size of many people nowadays, (me included) a little forced rationing could be a good plan.
Which was also part of the reason rationing continued: we were skint, as a country. We also only paid of our war debt/ loan to USA in 2006

All I ate yesterday was two gammon steaks and a bag of fresh sprouts boiled and unsalted, at 6pm. Minimal calories, maybe 500 max, followed by 3 bottles of Newcy Brown. Then bed. If I could stick to that for a good while, but without the beer, I'd beWhy not? I don't and tbh it's pretty easy. I was drinking black coffee pre 12 midday but with my recent waterworks / bladder / prostate / kidney scare knocked that on the head. Now it's just water until 12.
I imagine if I ditched the crap and ate healthy in my 8 hour window the results would be truly impressive.
No, definitely. I was replying to keithmac who said he didn't eat breakfast. Just highlighting that that can be different to an extended fast window, depending on whether you really don't eat anything or not, that you're obviously aware of.Why not? I hear what you are saying but my circumstances are not typical. I have only just started to be able to get out of the wheelchair. My physical condition is very poor and my prognosis in the long term is also poor. To stave off a stroke or heart attack they are suggesting rapid weight loss for 8 weeks then a gradual return to a stable diet. Hopefully I have a few years left in me and I would like to do enough to enjoy them! I am giving it a go and hopefully it will work out.Sorry if I seem like I’m going on a bit but dropping that amount of weight so quickly is likely going to give you other problems. Firstly, you’re going to run into issues with slowing of your metabolism. This means that when you start increasing your calories again, even in a moderate way, it is likely you’ll put the weight back on again. Depending on how much weight you are looking to lose you also run the risk of ending up with loose skin when cutting weight so quickly which often requires surgery if you want it gone.
Approaching weight loss in a more sustainable approach will combat both issues. Yes it will take a little longer but you won’t be suffering as much during the diet and you have a hell of a better chance of keeping the weight off in the long term.
My suggestion would be to use an online calculator to determine your estimated calorie expenditure based on your height, weight, age, activity level etc. deduct 500 calories from your maintenance figure and hit that target. Broadly speaking, a 500 calorie deficit will be ~1lb per week weight loss. If you want to try and lose a little more, say 1.5-2lbs, keep the calories the same as above and incorporate more exercise. An extra 250-500 calories burned through exercise helps with the overall calorie balance but also helps tighten up body composition as you’re shifting the weight.
You’ll need to re-assess your calories as the weight starts to come off. Once a month would be more than enough.
That’s great you’ve also started tracking your food. It’s amazing how many additional calories can sneak in over the course of a day when snacking so being consistent with this is likely to be your biggest success.
Again, all the best with the the weight loss
Could do with getting thrown into the north sea in a rubber dinghy for a month and come back a new man...everyone who gets found after drifting around the sea always look tanned and very fitI hear what you are saying but my circumstances are not typical.
