7x12 bandsaw spares.

Just went to use my bandsaw today and it’s not playing ball I’ve known that the motor mount was slightly cracked.

It looks like this has spread further and probably some manky Ali cast so no way I can weld it so I can only think a replacement motor is the only way to go.

looks like now it’s affected the brass gear inside!

it’s a baleigh 7x12 sized bandsaw. Can anyone suggest anywhere I can get parts from? Going to baleigh themselves Isn’t really an option as they are useless for after sales.

if not I’ll cut my losses and get rid of it I’m currently rebuilding a cold saw so was planning to replace with that and sell this on.

If the shaft isn't bent I'd have a go at repairing it ..strip it down . Get the flange red hot and then clamp it to something substantial giving it the block of wood & lump hammer treatment before it loses it redness to get the flange reasonably flat .


Then when its cold bronze arc weld up the cracks a bit at a time having ground out the crystallizations and preheated it to being just over hand hot .


It looks like you can file out the flange holes if they re a fraction out of alignment .


The damage on the wheel gear won't matter as it is all below the pressure contacting surfaces unless there are several consecutive teeth missing .

That bronze worm gear looks fubarred to me, imo.

I'd strip the gearbox for an inspection before doing anything else.

looks like a copy of my SIP bandsaw...then I supose they all are a copy anyway.....
the flange prob is nothing compared to the bronze /brass gear....
I'd be tinking of getting a gear made from Tuffnel or a special plastic....
spose they are around a £1000, so might still be worth fixing....
do the best u can with alignment of the flange , spose the bearings are OK.....?

Have a look at SIP, as Frank Horton says, Sealey, Clarke (Machine Mart) and Axminster for similar models. They are your best bet for replacement parts. Any flange-mounted motor would do, it is just the bronze worm wheel that is specific.

If you have more time than money, make a complete new motor end from a large aluminium round.

Thanks everyone for their input. Not sure if it’s had a whack at some point the brass gear is definitely gone several teeth missing that’s my main concern motor still seems ok so potentially could be made good.

I’ll have a look at the various sources mentioned it does seem slightly different to the normal 7x12 as the motor is direct drive most seem to be belt driven.

Haven’t much spare time to spend on it so if no luck will have to sell as is. Bit of a shame as it was a reasonable saw.

thanks for that looks identical! Have emailed them and Baileigh. Baileigh aren’t answering the phone I had thought they moved out of the UK but not sure.

excel were great quoted £120+ vat for it so worth doing but don’t have the time to change it all

Baileigh were their usual useless selves asking for every bit of information possible and after that they only sell the gearbox as a complete unit!
