6082 Ally

Got some odds and ends to make up, from 6082 aluminium, they need to be welded properly, and going in a marine enviroment...
Im going for 4043 rods...... pretty sure thats the better rod, but is 5356 a bit more corrosion resistant?

Right filler choice- considering the marine enviroment?

4043 is the usual choice.

If you want Marine grade you need 5183.

The 6082 isnt marine grade so no point in welding it with marine grade

I assumed its going in a marine enviroment, they have spec'd the grade of material as 6082.
4043 it is then.

Hi Hitch,

The 4043 rod you mention are just pretty bog standard rods for "Everyday Ally" but if you want to use it in a marine enviroment then its best to use the 5356 rods as they are approved for marine use.

Make sure the Ally your using is also marine grade

See the 5356 rods are approved by marine companys whereas the 4043 isn't
