50mm hole centre pull starter

My brush cutter pull starter has bust. It looks like the pawl has broken off, got jammed inside for a bit then been ejected, so now the pawl is gone and the housing is damaged. I'm trying to find replacements for these two parts that don't cost 50 quid and don't have to wait a month to come from China. Not having much luck so far, they are pretty generic Chinese engine and I can find the pull starter but not both parts together.

I'm hoping that someone has a dead strimmer/leaf blower out there with bits I can rob. Most of the ones you see for sale are the larger 65mm hole centres type.

No mate there's loads of that size, 63mm holes. Mine is 50mm holes.

I can get this bit delivered tomorrow, what I can't find is the pawl bit. I might buy the wrong one and try swapping parts

That is the correct pawl but the housing I cannot use because mine has a bracket to support the fuel tank which fixes to the bottom bolts.

The pawl is the wrong one but I hope I can rob the weights out of it and fit them into mine. Metal weights so I'll have to use both, instead of the single plastic one.

The story im told, zenoah started production in china something went wrong then they started selling them in all sorts of places with all sorts of names

Which strimmer is it?
Mine was a cheapy but stupidly powerful. Works well but the weak link is the starter pull. Had 3 of them fail

It's a Mitox 271MT. If it was just a strimmer I'd buy a local one off gumtree.

Have you contacted a Mitox dealer?
I've got a Mitox brushcutter, that was the best part of £270, the ignition coil gave up after about 18 months. The coil in my 1980's Partner 7000 plus chainsaw is still good, so doesn't say much for the current quality.
Anyway, I emailed twice, wrote twice, including a copy to their chairman - nothing, zero response. A PM on their Face Book page produced results and I ended up with a free ignition coil worth £60 odd quid.
It seems they do spares only from their dealers/service centres, there's neither anywhere near me, leastways there wasn't then.

All fixed and working now. I took the weights from the over-sized pawl and cut them down to fit the original. It used to have just the one plastic pawl lever in it but since I was replacing it with a metal one I had to fit the pair to keep the thing balanced.
