Confirm it is 41mm as 1 5/8" (imperial) is very close.

I know weverything is expensive there....
but in all fairness it really doesn't cost that much to have it repaired / rebuilt properly even with a chrome rod....
Ok if u have a machine shop to get everything to size but over the years when the rod is damaged better to get it rebuilt.....
it will last another 50 years....

Have used interfluid before to custom build a hydraulic ram.

But they will probably want to sell you a complete new set of rams. Getting the originals re hard chromed and ground might be a cost effective contender?

would it need to be sent for re-chroming?
i dont know a great deal about hydraulic rams but watching cutting edge in australia he send a lot out to be chromed after he has worked on it

I dont know if anyone rebuilds rams here,if it gets sent to the other side of the country and back,we'll that £500 just in freight.

1 5/8" chrome hydraulic rod is probably what you're looking for, you can buy it by your required length then machine/weld as necessary.

I personally use hss / hydraulic supplies Ltd as recommended by @Agroshield for chrome bar and continuous cast iron rod.

I used this company (relatively local to me 120 miles away)to supply my chrome rods for my rams, I turned the ends and threaded them to suit, they also have supplied ram seals, you just need the existing part numbers.
