4130 supplier

I've had the idea in the back of my mind for ages to build a bike frame...
An idea is probably all it will ever be, but I want to buy some 4130 (Or similar) tubing to practice notching and welding. If I think my welds are up to it I'll give a bike some proper thought.

So, does anyone know of any hobbyist friendly suppliers that will sell a few short lengths of various sizes for me to play with, preferably that list prices online?

Theres a few drag car chassis builders that i use that will all sell you 4130 moly tube by the foot in various diameters that they stock,
As a guide price for one of the larger common size tubes thats stocked is 1-5/8" x 0.083" wall thickness is usually around £7.50-£8.00 per foot plus vat.

Some plain ol' cheap ERW will do the job for practicing, at least to begin with... from a physically welding it POV (weldpool behaviour etc) 4130 isn't really any different to mild steel. If you can find a local framebuilder they'll have short offcuts from trimming tubes to length that are sometimes long enough for small practice coupons. Depending on what sort of frame you have in mind they may be thinner wall than you're after though. Dunno if they still do but Ceeway used to offer practice stuff and/or cheap tubesets http://www.framebuilding.com/ and i've still got two of these tubsets left http://www.mig-welding.co.uk/forum/threads/bicycle-frame-tubing-for-sale.38722/ but probably not suitable for the sort of frame you have in mind
