dohhhh......as for me........
no idea on apprentice dates or much else from that horrible time really.......
the best memories tho was long time working with a 80 year old proper blacksmith.......
and the most fantastic Chinese marine mechanic plus meeting my life long friend m/cycle engineer who's no longer here.......
and lastly those years spent in California finishing off my training rebuilding antique cars.........
California dreaming, great music, PCH, blondes and Harley's.....

Oh, 74 now,

well back to everyday jobs, need to set corner pins for my new workshop build........tara.......

45 years ago yesterday I started mine! Oddly enough I think this year was the first time I’d ever missed the anniversary.

I too started my apprenticeship in 1976 but not until the November, so after finishing my O levels in the May, I got to spend that summer kicking back and having waaaaay too much of a good time!

This Monday 4th September was the 53rd anniversary of me walking in to the Tottenham Court Road office of a computer company in 1970 to start my job as a Field Engineer. The previous Sunday I had put the engine back into my 1963 Panhard PL17 and drove down to London from home in Lincoln overnight. Having been chucked out of College after studying electronics for 2 years, I was attracted to the offer of a brand-new J-registered Triumph Herald company car. As it turned out, these computer thingies really caught on, and sustained me for the next 44 years.

43 years ago my parents signed my indenture papers at the MOD, and I signed the official secrets act. Jeez, where’d it go?
