, what has 71+25 got to do with the cost of a bottle of 1978 Chateauneuf du Pape?I can see the joint to be welded.
I have found that it makes a huge difference. I suspect that it is a personal thing, some will say that it has no effect!

Re using chalk, does it matter if the chalk is in the weld area? Would it contaminate?
you have the same weld lid as me, love the thing!
neat weld, you have a pin hole in the corner, if you kinda wrap the weld round the corner then use a grinder to smooth it down a little before you start the next run on top you can get a smooth wrap around weld that looks neater and depending on intended use of the box sections stops water ingress.
