3phase to single phase

hi there just been given a big and better compressor only problem is it is set up with a 3phase motor how easy is it to change it to single phase baring in mind i already have a single phase set up on my old compressor

any help would be much appreciated

a single phase motor is bigger in size than a 3 phase. so providing theres room to mount it. the belt will need changing also. just check the current rating of the presure switch contacts make sure it will carry the amperage using it as single phase

is the existing old compressor a decent size if so use the new one as an extra tank and worry about changing the motor at a later date

What HP is the original motor? That could determine the viabilty of using single phase.

If you can't fit the new motor so its shaft is in the same place as the old one, and /or you need to change the pulley this should help you calculate the new belt size

the single phase motor is now on its just a case of wiring it up belt fits fine and motor fits fine with it adjustable mounts think im gonna get a sparky to wire it dont wonna blow the electrics in the house

To emphasise the point, is the new motor the same HP as the old one? If it is less and you keep the same pullies it may stall at higher pressures.

Also make sure it's the same RPM as the old one.
