How long do the backing pads last roughly, 10, 50, 100 discs

They are not really a consumable item so should last for ever.
I'd guess they will eventually fall apart but I've not worn one out yet...

As long as you don't go running through the back of a bald disc or drop one when it's running I'd say you would be fine just buying one to start with...

I've had a cheap white nylon backing pad for at least 10yrs. Used fairly often as I prefer these linishing discs to flap discs. Easier to get a flat finish as they're less aggressive.

What is the cubitron discs like? Have you tried them yet?

My backing pad has been going for years. It's a 115mm nylon pad but I use it with 125mm discs so it doesn't touch the work at any time.

Only time I’ve replaced them is if I’ve caught the edge and knocked a chunk out. Usually due to my own stupidity!
