3D printer on a budget

£300 is a good budget for a decent machine.

Prusa mk3 is a brilliant machine.

But wouldnt rule out
Bambu lab p1s is £330 new,
Elegoo centuri carbon is currently £250ish.

Can pick up a basic ender 3 for £150 new.

Where is it going to live? If in a workshop/ dusty/ draughty place an enclosed printer would be best. It also makes printing higher temp filament easier. Not sure I would spend £300 on a 2nd hand printer these days when there is so much choice new for less than that.

i bought a flash forge adventurer 5m, they retail around £210 on ebay new, pretty basic but certainly does the job.

not sure if it can be upgraded for AMS/IFS or not, and the enclosure is extra, although the majority can be printed on it anyway

only issues i have had have been filametn related, Geeetech PLA print temps on the box werent ideal but after running a few calibration prints it was fine again.

Sunlu, Elegoo and Jayo filaments all print fine on generic settings

Geeetech filament is quirky, I've found, even when I've run it through the drier. I know this may sound daft, but store it for a few month after unsealing it, & it seems to be more obliging. It's always been quirky for me, has that stuff.

i wont be buying any more. it was the only company that seemed to carry the bone white colour in stock that my father wanted so once this run of prints is done i doubt ill use it again

It is actually quite a nice filament, when it behaves. Sunlu also do a nice bone white filament.

i couldnt find a site where the sunlu was in stock when i ordered it. if i ever need any more i would likely go for that though, the other sunlu i have prints fine on generic settings, as does the elegoo although i bumped the bed temps up a bit

Lubed the slides up on mine, last week. They sound a tad quieter now, so they must've been ready for it.

My experience - buy new if you can.
'Just' 500 hours in, and the Bambu P1S already needed a new hotend/extruder thing. Absolutely fine, but they cost £30+..
