-the house-wiring is in decent nick. its just--floorboards up cut damaged cables back and extend them or move the new fuse boxes further up -l if cables are ok in the wall -and reconnect

I didn't think you were allowed to joint now under floor boards ?

If you need to extend all the cables, can you just use a load of joint boxes to extend them?

-u cant join cables in walls with screwed conection jointboxes but u can with crimped joints screwed joints must be accessible

theres at least 3 days work there by the time its finished and test it all. its a big house 25 circuits a flat and stables as well

They don't even have to be crimped, wago type connections are also classed as "maintenance free", then you can put them where you like (within regs ofcourse)

Also i think it would have been a good idea to put torque values in amdt 3. Thats the problem not the fact they are plastic. It just seems like a band aid type fix to db fires to me.

I haven't been doing dom electrics long but i haven't seen any problems with wago boxes. Are they not held in high esteem?

there decent by all accounts a lot of light fittings have similar push fit conectors and are great I'm just old school on some things

They are an option, (properly) crimped & heatshrink connections are cheaper

ive just changed 30 -crappy downlighters to fire rated led ones 2day all strip conectors in fittings had the- monkey helping me

I generally use whatever suits the situation, levers, pushfit, crimps, I even used a couple of screw type junction boxes a few weeks ago, but as they were above a suspended ceiling I classed them "accessible"

I've been to a fair few jobs recently as no supply( i work on the powerlines) and found customers main switches have melted,,a few fires as well like brightsparks, alot of these were installed by homeowners themselves,, some hadn't even pulled the cut out to get the tails in the new unit!
Even the old wooden backed wylex stuff didn't burn like these plastic units,,good riddance to them.

Would something like this be OK?

Ignore the old wire colours etc, But could the adaptable box be under floorboards?
EDIT: Scratch that i like the look of them thingyo's that Mrfuzzy posted along with these look a tidy job.

@brightspark how quickly do the DNO come out to swap the cutout? I know they will be quick to cut it off but never hung around for a re connect

they wont come out and renew the cable and cutout till the work has been completed not even for a temporary supply then. they said they will call the same day . I cant believe that
