Another one of your installs?
Has anyone considered you now have to hold an earthed metal lid open while you reset a breaker/RCD with (possible wet) hands?
...Can't say I ever liked the plastic ones as they where just too flimsy.
coincidenceThey've been fine for the last umpteen years, it's not what they're made of, it's who installed them.
CU fires suddenly increased from about 2006 which oddly enough was when the "5 week wonder" (domestic installer) electrical qualification was launched![]()
I wouldn't let an -apprentice loose on a db or any board for-at least 2 to 3 years even with supervision and most other work would be randomly checked as well. if anyone makes the same mistake twice they get there ar...se kicked and given crap jobs to doThe spark I use showed me quite a few pictures of ones he had seen. I am with Robotstar here too many people call themselves electrician after a short course, the learning period is too short
who says plastic fuseboxes don't cause fires with loose wires
