30mm thick steel plate - needs cutting edge off

So I have bought a 30mm thick steel plate, need to cut edge off 1200mm, One end is 880mm, the other is 900mm.
It's a big old boy - 260kg
So I only have a frikking 4 inch grinder. I know, it would be easy with a flame cutter, but I don't have one.
The plate is to be a top for a welding table I intend to sell on FB marketplace or Ebay.
So I want it to look the part
My options are - leave it as it is, grind it to 880mm all the way along (will take forever), get it flame cut or plasma cut somewhere, weld on some steel to make the edge 900mm all the way along,are there other options - probably
Would someone buying a welding table be concerned if one edge was a bit raggedy?

Depends how much you want to be selling it for and what market.

If you grund off the sharp bits, wire brush the rust off, stick 4 legs on it and call it a welding bench someone can stick the rough edge against the back wall.
Problem is there are loads of welding benches like that foe sale at £50. You'll sell it if you are the closest to someone that wants it.

Or grind the edge smooth as it is and hope someone has a specialist jig top with a 15⁰ angle £500.

To me, a 'table' would be square on all 4 sides.
If you want to go into making & selling them at a profit you'll have to invest in some tooling. I'd think the minimum would be a 9" grinder to cut it square then a couple of lengths of linear rail and a 7" to grind the edges flat.
Mag drill if you want to add jig/clamp holes
Belt sander to clean/flat the surface.

High end tables are worth good money but if I was spending much more than double the scrap price I'd be turning up with a stright edge and a square to check it first..

Definitely get your customer requirements right before investing a load of time/money.

As above, if you want to get good money for these tables, the least you can do is a nice
square torch cut edge:

If the other, front edge is good, you could just weld a bit of angle or channel to the back as an upstand. So it looks a bit like this from the side: ________[

That way, there's a solid, square edge to push stuff up against and no risk of loosing small things off the back of it. And you can loose the grotty edge behind it with no cutting.

Unless you were planning on selling it as an island bench.

Offer the table for one price uncut and another price cut and smoothed, which reflects the work involved to make it so.

Did you check the other two corners are square? Use a 3-4-5 triangle not the set square from your Helix geometry set.

Agree with the angle iron back to cover where you chewed it with your teeth.

Is buying cheap 9” an option?
Use it to cut cars up with, great fun.

I would look on this as an excuseopportunity, to buy a 9" grinder, a plasma cutter, or both.

Good luck with cutting 30mm steel 1200mm long - even with a 9in angle grinder that is going to be very tedious, and it would take a powerful plasma cutter for that depth. Might be best to find someone with a gas cutter.

Straight cutter / track cutter is what you need and a tank of oxygen & propane/acetylene
