i use starrets and like you say they clog up in a deeper cut, what i do now is drill down so the teeth just start cutting and mark the hoe to to cut, then drill a pilot hole just inside this mark all the way thru for the chips to fall into. works a charm and speeds up drilling no endHolesaw would be my choice, although standard ones have nowhere near enough clearance for chips so you need to peck at it every mm. Ive used them in lathe to core the centre of bars to save wasting material.
Ive been intending to experiment with TCT holesaws, which may need the tips sharpening for metal work, or standard holesaws with half the teeth removed for more chip clearance.
