304 exhaust setups

Personally I'd use a mandrel bend where ever possible as these are logically more free flowing of the exhaust gases. And if you are able to use a bigger radius then again that's got to be better than a sharp 90 for gas movements (logically again as I'm no motor sport expert) but if it did need to be a tighter 90 lobster back is the answer.
I think done well they can look good. I put one in on the exit pipe of my old k4 thou to create a higher lift can and it looked lovely
BUT. done badly and there is no hiding it. They look awful.

The Profusion range are pretty tight, so shrinking or creasing of the tube either, Looking at the pie cut exhaust above, could of easily have been done with a bend from profusion. Could be to do with cost, no doubt be cheaper to pie cut straight tube, but the labour must surely multiplied when doing pies. But again, if the customer requested it to be pie cut then so be it

Well I received some 1.0mm 308L rods today so carried on with this custom exhaust I'm doing for someone

This is not purged as I didn't purge the rest so not gonna bother on the last small section but will do the lot next time as mentioned


This little S-piece was all welded with 1.6mm filler rod but today I joined it to the main straight with the 1.0mm filler which is the weld closest to the hanger

The difference even when not purged is so much better that I am gutted I didn't know or think to drop a rod size before

Something i learned was that if you can hear a "Tick" when you add filler, you need to either turn the amps up, or drop a filler size.

Looks good, but you have made life hard for yourself with those pie cuts. Straight tubing is cheaper than bends, but bends will save you a lot of time
