304/316 pipe

Hi all, how long would above last as a solid fuel chimney, I know that 904 is the way to go, but its very expensive. 304 6" dairy tube is fairly cheap. Its for a solid fuel central heating boiler which will be fitted in my garage. I was also thinking of using GB, it should last a good few years. I,ll insulate it inside garage.
I hope to pick it up second hand.

Pretty sure if it can survive as an exhaust manifold on a car it will be ok on a chimney.

I'm curious why 904 is reckoned to be better? It's got better corrosion resistance than the 3xx series in some environments but it's elevated temp properties are worse (max service temp is lower). No idea how hot solid fuel boiler flues get or how corrosive the gases are but as Tigler i would have guessed 304 or 316 would last okay

The common culprit is Sulphur from the coal. Nickel isnt that good against Sulphur, however, its only a chimney and it will last donkeys years (whatever that is). I used single skin vitreous enamel lined mild steel and in 8 years there is absolutely no signs of corrosion, plus its a lot cheaper.
