Depending on how you chuck attaches you have to be careful stopping the lathe suddenly, otherwise your chuck could unscrew itself off the spindle! You can alter the parameters in the vfd to decelerate it quicker then use the jog button to work up to a shoulder or for threading.
I don't whizz through threading so a suddenish stop *shouldn't* be an issue.
A more flashy VFD would be nice for jogging, presets and such. All I've got now is forward, reverse and an iffy potentiometer for speed control.
