3 phase at home

It's interesting how people on here will quote exact figures without direct experience. when I rang my electricity supplier, they told me to ring the network/distribution people, and they sent me a 15-odd page form just to apply for a quote!! they certainly wouldn't even give an indication over the phone.

I think Sam's experience proves, if you can do all the ground works on your own property yourself, and if you're near to a suitable supply, then it can be done relatively cheaply.

They're a couple of pretty big 'Ifs' though.

i caught one out fiddling landlords meter he took out the outgoing mains tails and joined them up with incomers trouble was when he reconected he got them the wrong way round and there was a neutral to earth fault on. needless to say his face was blackened and one blew up meter

ha ha thats quality, we seam to have lots of canibus factory discon's at mo, and some of the ways they connect to the service is scary...using copper line taps and carboard between...



as for the excact figures its just a rough price what they are charging at mo, they can differ quite a bit from job to job.....i would recomment a single phase welder rather than go for 3 phase supply as 8 week waiting list here at moment and big costs. if your going to get other 3 phase gear in the future it might be more worth looking at

as for the ground work i dont rearly know any jobs where the customer dont do it. we only do it on public highways.(where the cost is).. then usually the customers just lay a duct from boundary near main to cutout position, then we come and do the connection.. when excavation is required on public highway the cost shoots up...and as most cables are in the footpaths this is normally the case
