No I think the old oxfords could run on either 415 or 240 single phase. At least I think that's what mine does.

Exactly, either 415v potential across 2 wires (2 lives, 120 degrees apart) or 240v potential across 2 wires (live and neutral). The only true '3 phase' welders are inverters. Others just use 2 phases of a 3 phase supply.

I'll look properly at a computer, but a quick look suggests £60 notes for a keypad, and a used one at that. I'd be as well looking for the cables to do it via a laptop as well, but...

Good kit or not, the Chinese one looks like it may be a more sensible option.

It's much easier but the lecom module is going to be at least as expensive as a keypad, if not more unless you drop lucky.

The old type machines,3 phase machines were 360 degrees.Kemppi,Esab etc made a 3 phase thyristor machine,well before invertors

Well I've not found a great deal in the way of affordable methods of programming it. Shame, because I like to use good quality equipment but there's no sense in spending much money to make this work when I've already bought one - it may be cheap and cheerful but I expect it will work.
