Now i'm sure at school(70's) we had these in metalwork when we did a bit on planishing
Anyone else used them? Also some cool setup he has there

Would imagine it’s quite unbalanced,falling thru your hand as the heavy side gets affected by gravity.

there is nothing worse than an unbalanced hammer, bought a silverline long handeled lump hammer the other year, its still looks like new as is dosent get used, allways wants to turn in your hand when trying to belt stuff, hardwork to use and hurts wrist also nigh on inpossible to get consistent good strikes with it.

I've seen a set of hammers like that in a bodyshop a while back. It belonged to a polish panel beater. It was exactly what optima21 has posted, a ring dolly fitted with a handle. He seemed to use it more as a long reach dolly than a hammer. I watched him holding it up through the wheel arch while repairing a dent in a quarter panel.

I’m lefthanded couldnt understand why my wist hurt when using an old lump hammer I’d inherited, it wasn’t until I bought a new one did the penny drop, it had taken a set from constant righthanded use, causing the head to mushroom at an angle. Now mine is 20yrs+ it’s tapered the other way
