Hi,
I have a 3 bike trailer, which I want to turn into a box trailer.
I'm not going the traditional route of alu sides, or GRP - instead I'm using an old HGV curtain side curtain, and going to use that to make a throw over a steel frame (removable) - similar to the eastern european box vans you have probably seen driving round - but on my trailer.
To make the steel uprights removeable I am going to have them made from steel box section, and have it slide into slightly larger steel box section to create a snug fit, with a clevis pin and R clip arrangement to secure it.
My first question is...
If I make the frame out of 25mm box, can I have it sliding into 30mm box with 2.5mm walls (2x 2.5mm = 5mm, 5mm + 25mm = 30 mm box)
OR will that be too snug?
And should I instead go for 35mm box with 3mm walls? (2x3mm = 6mm, 6mm+25mm = 31mm giving 4mm of play)
Thanks!
I'll get some photos sorted at some point!
