3/4 uggadugga gun

Got to replace our work uggadugga gun.. does not get used everyday but when it does its worked fairly hard
Any recommendations, to buy and avoid?

battery go for whatever battery system you already have.

Battery system isn't important here... if makita, none of us have it, so the batteries will be there when we want it...

Depends on the use when you do need it, CP or Ingersoll Rand if going pneumatic. Makita 3/4" drive corded are also good. Cant deny the red tools are tops if you want cordless.

Their grease gun is ok, I should have gone for the DeWalt tbh.

CP or IR for air - but make sure your receiver and air lines are big enough, a lot of 3/4" air guns are strangled by lack of airflow, even the couplings can make a noticeable difference.

Makita or dewalt (don’t think dewalt make a 3/4). I use the 1/2” big makita one undoing wheel nuts on my truck every week, I had no 3/4 stuff back when I got it and I regret not getting the 3/4 now.

I follow a guy on instagram repairing tools and he seems to see loads of Milwaukee m18 guns. The prongs are to short for the batteries to connect to. This is especially problematic with the impacts because they have no battery damping, the battery vibrates a lot causing it to arc out and then not to work. When this happens he has to bodge it to make the prongs a bit thicker again.
A friend of mine whose a crane fitter asked me about his Milwaukee, I spotted it straight away knowing what I do. Seems alright other than that.

Milwaukee but expect to replace it after three years.

Why is that were you not able to get parts for it?

I have had Milwaukee stuff for about 6 years and was always able to get spares. For example after 5 years the rear bearing went bad in my m18 high torque. I got a new genuine back cover and bearing assembly on ebay for £15 and replaced it myself.

They should not fail after 3 years and if they do it should be repairable with full parts support.

Makita dtw1001, its great value and absolutely hammers stuff. It managed to remove some ag trailer wheel lugs that wouldn't come with a breaker bar and pipe...

If so then the other week he stuck a video up saying would people stop sending milwaukee stuff. It's not economical to repair, the latest stuff is basically throw away.

That’s it, Dean Doherty. He always says the most tools he sees are Milwaukee and the least repairable again are Milwaukee. Quite a poor show really.

I see DeWalt have finally released a 3/4. My DeWalt 1/2" has been indestructible

I was never a fan of Milwaukee, always seemed over priced and over rated for what they are.

I have a 1/2" Makita impact, least used tool I own so can't comment on longevity, but the rest of my 18v kit was used professionally and stood up to the abuse

I also have a 240v DeWalt 1/2" impact, it has 2 options, undo or snap. Has never failed to do either

Milwaukee here No problem but on other chat rooms battery coming slack or splitting does come up as a problem with those using a rattle gun most of the time.

Pick the system you think has other tools you may (will, guaranteed) use. Whatever the price of the gun it will end up being just the start of the spending spree.

Torque Test channel do a run down on the various impacts, might be worth a look.
Does it have to be cordless or can you go air?

Hikoki do a 3/4" drive model, pretty reasonably priced, I haven't used it but have the mid-torque.
The Makita is a beast and priced accordingly.

If it is going to get treated like a ginger step-child, I'd probably go for air - CP, IR, Aircat, something that will take the abuse.
