I have adaptors both ways of all sizes, quite often use 3/4 air gun to 1/2 drive 14mm allen key.
Also have some 12 point impacts for odd jobs.

Answering to both as my answer to metal monkey would be practically the same to not done yet.
I've bought cheap but heavy wall impact rated sockets set because I don't trust that much chrome sockets.
On my small half inch impact I'm using chrome sockets because it's what I have right now but I'm planning to get a proper impact set for it too.
That's because on yesterday this thread made me aware about that the female square can get deformed, this would be a shame as my Parkside ratchet and sockets set is pretty good and I'm very happy with it.
This in addition to the fact they can explode.
I've eventually bought another 1/2" (600-700Nm) which should be twice as powerful than what I use with the Parkside sockets (200-300Nm)
When I've bought the 3/4"impact (2000Nm) things changed, I was already thinking about getting Impact sockets for it but I've got a proposal from an ebay seller for a KS Tools set so I was in front of a choice cheap unbranded impact rated sockets set or expensive branded non impact ones for cheap.
Adapters I was having a look at them because of the 3 1" sockets included in the set.
But also to reduce to 1/2" in Case i need to loosen very stuck bolts as it's not the maximum torque but the first blows wich can be useful to loosen car wheel bolts or things like that.
Keeping torquing a relatively small bolt trying to loosen it with a big impact Is looking for more trouble IMHO
I've chosen a 6 points sockets set because they are tougher but I personally don't even like 12 points sockets as they are not that useful you just need to turn the socket still fits the bolt...
They are very useful when you have to deal with square bolts but I've recently discovered that there are special sockets for those too

My mate keeps a pair of safety specs with a shard of 24mm 12-point socket stuck in the lens as a souvenir/warning it from the time he borrowed my "medium" impact, but didn't also take a case of sockets.
He returned the impact with a wry "it's got pickup" and handed me the glasses to look at.
You can easily get ¾ to ½ reducers that are impact rated from Sealey, Milwaukee, Britool, MAC etc.
They're comparatively expensive though, because that ½" square is taking a real pummeling.
USPRO also offer one, but I would be a bit more reticent to put that on the big air impact with the pressure turned all the way up and give it the beans...
The big limitation to using an adapter is that a decent ¾" impact will effortlessly generate enough force to round or sheer most smaller fasteners if they don't come immediately.
Also, the Makita that @Memmeddu has just purchased [a clone of] is a decent enough but of kit, but it doesn't put out as much torque as a number of the top end ½" cordless tools now out there, or most professional quality ½" air impacts (with the pressure turned up a bit)...
So if he buys proper ½" impact sockets he's probably not going to trash those.
I can see you have already learned the important lesson there!
Although if you're confident you won't round the head, using a big impact to deliberately snap the head off a bolt (when it's a bolted connection and not a bolt into a threaded hole) can be a very quick way to deal with stuck bolts.
It's unlikely to deliver anything close to that in real world use either.
Even dealing with the gigantic two-handed 1" impacts, you're just barely getting that kind of torque if you have ideal conditions.
It will however still deliver way more force that almost anything (that's coming unstuck at all) on a passenger car, or light commercial would ever need.

Threads get friction welded together after that this happens you are most likely in very big troubles depending upon what you are dealing with .
They claims 3300Nm but I know that even the real one doesn't and the torque test channel on YouTube tested the onevan claiming 3100Nm and it delivered around 1370ish ft lb Wich is close to 1800Nm so might be there.
Now as you said between hammering it's very unlikely to get there because it's a 90kg guy on a 2 meter long breaker bar before breaking loose.
And I think I would give up way before this point
Maybe if you weld the fastener it will reach those values I think .
I think that the impact itself as a tool doesn't work full power after the first blows as the bolt gets loosened and loosened at each blow or at least that's what I think to have understood.
