If we hadn't used most of those big oaks to build the Royal Navy, we'd all be speaking French!
But that was back then, all we need now is a few fishing boats to scare them off...

We had a storm here 45 years ago that took half the roof of the chapel down the hill. It dropped dozens of trees, amongst them an old conker tree, must have been 6 foot or more across the trunk, turned it upside down, along with it's smaller companion. There are still a few monster trees left in the UK, we have taken down Oaks and Chestnuts that were over 15` in diameter at ground level.

I love Wales........mostly because it shelters us from the worst weatherWe had a storm here 45 years ago that took half the roof of the chapel down the hill. Some of The slates that didn't fly with the complete half roof were embedded in nearby trees...
And eating French food and drinking French wine and perhaps ' enjoying' our 'relationships 'a bit more and still waiting for our Jabs........Hmmmmm.If we hadn't used most of those big oaks to build the Royal Navy, we'd all be speaking French!
Out of my radar? What is thé first, begs thé question?
And "sailing" on Jersey.......ignoring covid regulationsAnd eating French food and drinking French wine and perhaps ' enjoying' our 'relationships 'a bit more and still waiting for our Jabs........Hmmmmm.
There's a bunch of those trees in Queenswood, just north of Hereford, well worth a visit as there is a huge variety of trees there and you could spend a day there easily
First time I had seen the soft bark

That IS a tree! Just think how many pieces of crap IKEA that would supply.
Biggest I've dealt with was about 6ft at the base. Old oakThere are still a few monster trees left in the UK, we have taken down Oaks and Chestnuts that were over 15` in diameter at ground level.

Well if CANZUK actually happens, I'm off to Canada.
Sequoia National Park in California, in credible place to visit........................stick it on your bucket list. A quick stroll around there puts things into perspective on how insignificant and a mere pimple on the earths bottom the human race isThat IS a tree! Just think how many pieces of crap IKEA that would supply.
