2K primer question

Hi, I've just finished getting my shell painted in 2K primer and been busy over the past couple of days flattening it, I was hoping to get it into colour by the end of the week but that may not happen now and I'm off on holiday next week.

I'm now told though as I've rubbed it down it need painted within a couple of days and leaving it 2-3 weeks unpainted will result in micro-blisters when it is put into colour. Has any one heard of this? it'll be left in a dry reasonably warm workshop during the holiday period.

id say it should be alright indoors ...its more when they stand months or are driven in the rain etc

Only thing I would say is that when you do paint it in top coat scuff it up with a grey scotch brite pad to make sure it adheres properly, I have a dehumidifier in the garage to help keep moisture at bay and have had no issues up to now, it doesn't really make sense to me as some wet sand before top coat.

I would put a dehumidifier in there with it and you should be ok, I don't wet flat primer. The primer is porous and can soak up moisture from the air, after you topcoat it and take out the moisture pt tends to try and get out again which causes little blisters to appear known as micro blistering. If it does blister the only real cure is back to bare metal

Thanks for the replies, it was dry sanded but there's a couple of bits that need attention before the final coat. I think I'll try and get some paint on to seal it (any similar colour should do), do the repairs when I get back from my holiday and then get the final colour on. Its in a big workshop so a dehumidifier isn't really an option.

if you have any heat lamps or anything give each panel a warm up before painting

Well I've managed to organise that it'll be given a coat of colour while I'm on holiday so there wasn't really a problem

Car is looking good. Bet your itching to get it finished but are equally desperate to just get away. You'll have lots of time to get all these projects done now, no excuse!

The tractor didn't make its first show as the tyres didn't arrive, also I've had problems with the bonnet getting it all lined up, still not got it sorted but getting there.
