Good point this because as of this morning when i got my metal flake for my wheels their leaflet says they sell a 2k lacquer in a can and thought the same ???
Could the hardener go hard when exposed to the air ?

If it is 2k the hardener will be in a separate compartment and there will be a button on the bottom or another way of releasing it before use, it will have a short lifespan.
If its like any other rattle can then it's not 2k.
They are not hugely common but they do exist, I have seen the laquer ones before but not primer.
As a side note mixed 2k primer in a sealed container turns into a solid rubbery mass, where as laquer turns into a strange brittle rubbery mass that will shatter!

Without the 2k being mixed how long would you say that most 2k paints or lacquer last before its not good enough to use ?
I know its best to turn the can upside down so a skin wont form.

Oh and its not very professional that these cans with 2k inside when advertised in leaflets doesn't say anything about the safety aspect. This is surprising when this country is so focused on health and safety.

I meant once mixed it will have a short lifespan, I've no idea how long it lasts unmixed, considerable time I hope as I've got half a litre from years ago I hope to use again.
I'm not surprised they don't mention the safety aspect, it's not in their financial interest unless they sell respiratory equipment.
Guess the cans have a very limited life from once first used, but like you say one-shot shouldn't be a problem. Fairly expensive way to paint but not terrible if it's bike bits.
Should be a data sheet out there somewhere with all the gen.
2k doesn't skin so no point turning tins upside down. Paint lasts a good while, the activator doesn't though. As for how long, maker's spec sheet is always the safe way to tell. The rest depends on storage, opened or not, etc etc.
I have some that's a few years old. Might chicken out of using it on bodywork, but do use it on brackets and misc things like locking security bars and a fabric roller I made for her indoorses workshop.

ive heard good things about them , obviously never as good as top notch gear and a spray gun , but prob as good as it gets
