As per title, I want to spray a polished aluminium bicycle frame with 2k laquer. Obviously I can't use a primer, (unless of course there is such a thing as a clear primer?). Does anyone here have any experience and advice.

    TIA, Steve.

Just spent a few hours trying to sand and polish my bike frame and have now admitted defeat. The effort in, doesn't justify the outcome.

Long story short, I removed the down tube from my Specialized Rockhopper and fabricated a new down tube that houses a home built 58 volt battery and fitted a chinese bafang electric motor from Luna Cycle in US back in 2017. I built the frame modifications from standard 1000 grade 3mm aluminium as a prototype, with the intention once proved, to cut out and replace with 6082 T6, which I have, but I'm not going to bother now as it works fine despite some abuse as I think it has age hardened. So last week I decided that as I now have lots of time on my hands that I would finally finish it and polish and lacquer it. Bollocksination, what a nightmare. It's going back together as it is.

I'll figure out how to upload pics and post them, as obviously, no pics it didn't happen!
