I was in Newbury in a meeting with a bunch of BT Networks execs. Their pagers all started going off, which they ignored initially and then checked "plane hit the WTC" said one, which we assumed to be like a light plane.
Then we went into reception where there was a TV playing it out - stood there for an hour. I had a guy in Canary Wharf doing (ironically enough) a disaster recovery test - had to basically order him to leave as it seemed like a reasonable target given what we were watching.

I happened to look at the screen near to my desk, which usually had market information on it, only to be confronted with an image of the first strike. After my alert no more work was done that afternoon.
