20mm steel conduit - what thread?

Anyone know the thread size/type on normal 20mm steel conduit? I just bought an M20 die off EBAY but it doesn't fit :-(( I need to re-thread some conduit for a project. Thanks Gerry

I presume 1.50mm is the thread width? Do you know what die do I need to buy to actually make the correct thread - and where from? I'm thinking the M20 I bought would cut a thread that would fit inside my 20mm conduit if it was internally threaded? So I must need a bigger than M20 to cut a thread on the outside?

Standard (course) metric thread has a pitch of 2.5mm so from what MK is saying the thread you want is one of the metric fine options.

I bought my die for conduit from a trade electrical supplier.

Just checked mine, marked M20CON so not a standard metric thread which would be marked M20x2.5

Pg Steel Conduit Threads are manufactured in accordance with DIN 40430 STEEL CONDUIT THREAD; DIMENSIONS. The Pg thread series is designed specifically for steel conduit because of the thin wall cross section of the steel conduit. The thin wall thickness requires a shorter profile thread that will not break through the outside diameter of the steel conduit during the machining process. The 80° included angle of the Pg thread form gives a shorter profile than the more common 60° included angle found in the Unified National thread series and the Metric thread series. There is some discussion about replacing the Pg Steel Conduit Thread per DIN 40430 with a 60° version as specified in BS EN 50262 CABLE GLANDS FOR ELECTRICAL INSTALLATIONS and/or DIN EN 50262 METRIC CABLE GLANDS FOR ELECTRICAL INSTALLATIONS.

Thanks guys..I'll check where I bought the conduit. The die I bought is marked M20 x 2.5 HSS ISO GRD. I'll put it up for sale!!
