2 stroke engine, help needed

could you post some pics of thee pullers, good idea ill have to make some,

I'll dig them out tomorrow and take a pic.

It was pretty straight forward....just a length of angle with 3 holes ......the two outer ones match up with threaded holes in the crankcase and fixed to it with thread bar. then use a nut and pointy bolt to push on the end of the crank and push it out.

Once pushed out you pretty well have to assume the bearings are damaged.

To refit put the bearings in the crankcase but don't fit the seal yet. Get a bit of tube the same'ish diameter as the inner bearing race. Cut it to length so it gets near the thread on the end of the crank. Put a washer or two on the end of the pipe and pull it on with the nut on the end of the crank.


I've got a spare crank knocking about so i'll lay the parts out and take some pics tomorrow to give you a better idea.

after hours of work done to it i noticed that there was no valve on the crankcase for pumping fuel through to the carb

If the engines are the same make is there a blank in the casting you can drill or tap out to take pump from scrap engine?

Is there anywhere you could mount an electric fuel pump?

i have no 2 stroke experience bawjaws, but i would be thinking along the same lines as robotstar? surely it can be adapted?? post some pics of the items im sure we can work somethin out, and get ya back on the road! nothin worse than havin your transport and freedom taken away from ya!

thanks for all the help guys, but i was out tinkering again today and its all repaired now, i took the good right hand side caseing and joint it with the old left hand one, i had to because 1. the pump thing 2. the new caseing didnt have fitting for a brake disk only drum and that would mean changing all the brakes and wheels 3. the the mounting points were slightly different,

the new engine casings were also really hard to get off (out with the hammer again(but it was rubber this time) but what surprised me was when i went to put the two different casings together they went on with no struggle atall
i thaught about drilling/tapping a new hole in the case for the valve but knowing me itd probably crack and then is need another engine so ive done what icould really and im over the moon that ive saved 200+ quid on a new engine

Good to hear you got it sorted.

This was all i made to push the crank out......a plate with 3 holes ,doesn't really need the nut welded. (and the bolts were longer)

ah, looks simple enough but the casing bolts only had 6mm threads so would have probably ripped them clean off

Should be ok...the bolts in the pic were just for show. The ones i used were also 6mm. Or drill more holes in the plate and fix it with more bolts.
