Used to work in a garage, they had one 2 post with minimal footprint and one with a h frame base where the legs from end to end were a good 2/2.5m and it was significantly more stable than the other ramp, both were on 8" reinforced slabs though as we had to pour more concrete to get the height up so the 4 post and brake rollers were flush with the floor.

I've got a tecalemit twintec too. Mines a mk5. I prefer the screw type lift over hydraulic. Base plate on mine is bigger than that I think. I struggle to get some BMW cars on mine as they have those stupid nylon lift blocks for jacking points which makes them lower. Just drive onto a couple of wooden blocks. I will make some posh alloy ramps one day.

Once saw one sat on a nice checker plate pad so the floor was the same height as the bit the chain runs through in the middle, that way you can get lowered stuff on, even had removable bits so the screw for the pad that sticks out below the arm had somewhere to go!

i can get lowerd stuff on mine without much issue, the ramps desinged for H frames have no disadvantage as those sitting on floor
arms / posts are adjusted to sit that bit higher so lifting pads start at same hight the channel running between posts is a ittel anoying but you have to have that anyway H frame or not as the cabels that keep the posts in sync run through there

Some lifts have it over head. Utilizing a motor on each leg. Making them truly baseless.

let me know if you are interested in the scissor lift, if you are, you could come and look at the one I fitted at my mates. I think they are agood idea coz the workshop is not taken up by huge posts.

Hi Norm, I checked up on the prices of the scissor lift you installed - they are indeed a good price. Think I will look out for a used one though - seems abit senseless to have two ramps in a garage with only one fitter (me). Could be handy from time to time when waiting for parts on a job it could stay on the lift etc. but for now I will bide my time, thanks though.

I was after a Steinhøj one but ended up with the Tecalemit.
On a similar subject, how many people with a two poster have fluorescent lights on the legs, and do they help much? I put all the wires in to do it on mine but never bought the light fittings.

I had thought about 12v gu10 cree leds eyeball fittings at the base of each side of each post then you could direct the light forward / rearward and angle it upwards to the underside of each wheel, they are supper bright and would be safe. but they have no directional heat, and take up no space. and cost pennies to run

Since posting this thread we have purchased two 2 post lifts, the first was a imola which was a bad purchase as lift nuts were unobtainable and it required a set.
We have just last week picked up a tecalemit sf8837 (or similar) and plan to install this weekend.
It has a h frame baseplate which I am going to extend even further using the baseplate from the other lift.
22 m20 anchor bolts and nice long baseplate legs should make it plenty safe.
