2 Part Epoxy?

Previously bought JB Weld which I had no major issues with, But did take a while to cure. But couldn't get hold of it off the shelf, So bought some Plastic Padding Super Steel instead.

Now my question is... Are any of them any better than others?

Araldite & Quiksteel also seem to be easily available!

Always interested to hear peoples thoughts/experiences

Depends on application and budget.

Consumer grade stuff is nowhere as good as industrial stuff but it's much cheaper.

Also sometimes a urethane us preferable to an epoxy.

What sort of stuff are we saying is 'industrial' grade? Don't use it that often, But like to use something that does a good job

I didn't even realise you could buy it in this sort of size!  Never needed that much epoxy

belzona is the real deal but very expensive .I was lucky scored some from bootsale for a fiver bet the seller didn't know there was 40 quid's worth probably nicked it from work mind devcons on par with it

and dont forget that you can also get it for £1 from poundland........I use that more than JB weld and for most applications it's good enough for me.

See this is my other thought about the cheaper alternatives, Are they any worse?

depends on what you want to use them for, for light duty work the poundshop stuff may well be good enought, but anything operating at near 100c or hotter, I'd be looking at jb weld etc.

Devcon is good gear, used a lot for shaping inlet ports on tuned engines to get the shapes right. It must be able to take abuse to work somewhere so hot and with fuel and air racing past.

I used JB weld on my engine about 8 to 10 years ago and its still working well

Used JB brand epoxy in non moving/stress areas like engine covers etc for years and yes it takes a while (longer the better and cool temps) to go off properly solid, but also shapes/drills nice when it does.
"Bodge of the day" about 5 years ago was a shot to nowt on a cheap chineses compressor reg outlet which had split, used regularly up to pressure since.

Reviews of belzona and devcon performance looks seriously good but expensive.
From personal experience of quicksilver/putty type JB or the like - total crap, rubbish at sticking to anything other than itself and does not keep - garbage

I was wondering if the "new" petrol, with the ethanol in it would affect it.

Belzona is the king of chemical metal, we used it the shipyard

Most epoxies are the same. Slow cure ones are much better than the rapid types.
I often make up my own batch using iron filings or aluminium powder as a filler depending on which metal is being bonded/filled. You can also use sawdust or talc as a filler.
Beware of the Poundland type "epoxies". Some I have bought have had a strong smell of styrene - epoxy they aren't! And the tubes are tiny.

My favourite was the old Araldite 24hr - don't know if it is still available?
