i agree thats more than a wee favour you cant expect anyone in thier right minds to do that as a favour. i would charge an absolute minimum of £15 per hour mon-fri £20 per hour sat-sun. if you want the skill you got to pay the bill

good grief mr gift! i welded a mates sill on and didnt ask for a penny, still got paid though. its a mini thing

get a suzuki jimmy 4x4 chassis with a 1.6 and plonk a mini on top!

I've seen a 2CV body on a Range Rover chassis

defeats the purpose of saving money then doesnt it? :S and the beer and tea compensates :P if i wanted a professional job i'd take it down to the fabricators, all i want is a solid job.
i recon i could do that ALL in one day as i hav the panels cut out and arc tacked in place. got exams coming up so project is kinda on hold for a while, but afterwards i shud hav a welder and lots of new panels waiting in the garage for me

Had a Mini briefly, bought for £50 and sold straight on £350, paid for my compressor. Was fun to drive, but being 6 foot 2 it was like a wolf spider getting out of a matchbox

wow thats some serious work need there! lol it's the kind of Mini I love doing! LOL I am a little crazy though!!! I wouldn't go near a Mini with an arc welder mig it...its the only way.

I don't want to sound negative but you have a bit more than a days welding there, dont rush it for the sake of it as you will only regret it later, you would be better starting it after your exams giving you chance to save for more parts and a welder.

i'll be on the scottishmini stand, well, my mini will probs be in the imm village if i get it ready after countless allnighters and my mate down the mot center (comes in handy) because theres a few VERY nice cars from the forum coming.

i like the way the "rab" mini is billed as scotlands finest, however it was owned and done for a young lady in bristol i know this as ive spent many a late night on that car

with regards the mini in this thread i agree with the others get yourself a mig if you want to sort this car properly, sadly ive just given my sip one away otherwise you could have had it for postage, i also agree that a decent mask is not just sensible its essential and not for the quality of the welds but for your own well being, simple fact is if you cant afford to buy yourself the gear to keep on the right side of A&E then dont start the project
