This isn’t mine, but a van my mate is doing up. It’s got a 2.5 turbo diesel, except he didn’t know it was a turbo until I pointed it out to him today.
Anyway, after repairing a small burst hose on the boost side, and reattaching the air filter pipe, we struggled to free up a lever that comes out of the top of the exhaust part of the turbo, and is operated by some pressure/vacuum servo device.
Does anybody know what that lever does? The van drove okay before, but now we’ve unsiezed this lever and fixed a hose on the pressure side, we’re hoping it will run a lot better. He is doing bodywork so we can’t test it yet.
Theres also an electrical pressure switch of some sort plumbed into the boost side of the turbo, but we have no idea what that does.
He doesn’t have any sort of a manual and is working pretty much by guesswork. It’s very similar to this, identical almost.
ETA, it may not be Leyland, not sure where I got that from. Talbot Express springs to mind actually.
