1969 VW Karmann Ghia

Will be working on this just as soon as I finish building my workshop and buy myself a welder....

Nice ghia Jotto,
I liked the site also....ive always liked the ghia shape but they're not much good for me being well over 6' and the wrong side of twenty stone! .....i remember my friends mum having a champagne gold painted ghia which i thought looked like a real high speed machine (How little i knew)

Its vw polar silver, it was used on beetles in the 50's, chosen to keep the car standard apart from the flames.If I want I can paint the front and the car will then be unmodified.
By saying the back looks classy are you saying the front isnt?

lol, no offence buddy...like both back and front...just on different cars!!!! lol, JK.

Where did you get your repair panels from, what welder did you use and on what settings?

Wheel arch sections were from heritage and coolair, whoever were cheaper, rear 1/4 panel repair sections were from coolair.
Heater chanel sections were all handmade, outers by rolling some angled steel over a scaffold pole!
Inner rear arches were made by copying the outer onto chipboard and beating the steel over the edge(saved a fortune).
Welder is just one bought from the local motor factor, set by playing about.
I think I still have the rear arch formers/pattern if you want them, I'm in exeter if you're up this way.

Cheers buddy, The wheel arches have been bondo'd so I have no idea whats underneath...needless to say all four are different! The front has been poorly repaired as has the nearside wing....

Will be digging off all the bondo and paint to see what I find.
