1955 A.O Smith DC MIG Welder

Hi everyone. This is my mig welder. I've been using it for 35 years and wish to sell it but not for the scrap. She welds perfectly! So hoping maybe someone out there may have an interest or possibly even more knowledge on the subject. I read one post where the first commercially available MIG was around 1948? So looking for confirmation of that too at least.

Scrap minus the price to move it and pull the copper out of it.

I scrapped some motors & xformers for $.40 lb recently, YMMV

Honestly if you want to see it preserved you might be best offering an industrial museum like Kelham Island or Manchester, or to the Science Museum in London.

There's a very good chance that you have one of if not the, oldest MIG welders in the UK there.

They don't really have much history to go at in the USA, so museums should be even more interested, surely.

Also how the hell do you see where every poster comes from, without clicking through to their profile "about" page? I am clearly missing something here.

Or, if you need a different machine, sell it to someone who will use it?

Best chance of it continuing existing is for it to be useful to someone in my opinion.

Ooooooh, I love those places! Just as well I'm an ocean away.

There's a supplier I use with several locations round the world where you could quite literally buy everything needed to build an oil refinery, just add piping... Very cool, if a bit eerie to visit.

Been there many times, bought a bunch of stuff......they do take credit cards and do fill containers for overseas
shipping.....
