I bet that lathe built the Skoda tanks that won the Krauts the blitzkreig.
You may scoff but the Czechs built some cars that were well-regarded in their day (Tatra 87 anyone) and it's believed that Ferdinand Porsche nicked the ideas of one Hans Ledwinka to come up with the VW Beetle (and look where that ended up)...

Even the famous 'Bouncing Czech' Estelle was a much better car than some of its contemporaries in some ways, very like the 2CV and Beetle, in fact... they all stuck around long after they should have beeen retired, must be a good reason for that.
I aint scoffing! it was meant as a compliment, when Germany annexed Czechoslovakia in 1938 they acquired the Skoda works. At the time they built the most advanced tanks in the world. The Germans put them to good use. I had a Skoda Felicia a few years ago & though it had its moments it was a truly great car. cheap as chips & just wouldnt die.
